Adams Agility Qualifiers
News and information...

Adams Derby Name Change

The first Adams Derby was set up in 2001 by Chris and Sandra Adams. Over the years, it has been a very successful qualifier which has seen many of the top dogs in the country take part in the Adams Derby final when they were eligible for Grades 3-5. This Final is loved by everyone who takes part and always gets the crowd going and is nail biting right until the last dog runs.

This year the Adams Small / Medium Derby (formerly Dovedale Speed & Power) has been renamed. It will now be known the Adams Dinky Derby and will be held under the same rules as the Large Adams Derby except that it will be open to Small and Medium dogs.

1. The first section of the competition will contain the following pieces of equipment: A Frame, Dogwalk, Seesaw, a rising spread jump and a long jump. The placement of these obstacles is at the Judge’s discretion. The first section is un-timed and dogs must successfully complete this section without faults before proceeding to the second section of the competition. Dogs with faults will not be allowed to proceed to the second section.

2. The second section of the course is to be set as a fast flowing speed course which is timed and will contain no more than fourteen but no less than twelve single pole hurdles plus a set of twelve weaves.

There will be separate awards and finals for all three heights.

The Adams Jumping Cup

When the Adams team first started to think about introducing a new final in 2012, they thought long and hard about what sort of qualifiers were missing, and that's how they decided to host a jumping competition. While there are lots of Agility finals around there are very few Jumping ones that standard Kennel Club classes. This means that all dogs get a good attempt at qualifying for a Final even if they are not as good at Agility as they are jumping.

The 4th Final will be held at the Adams Agility Show on 30 August 2015and judged by Charlie Wyatt. The sponsor will be Paws Trading.

The Qualifier is open to dogs eligible for Grades 1 3 and – 7 and run over Large height. This is a Standard Kennel Class held under KC rules. The top four handlers from each heat will be invited to go through to the Final, sponsored by Paws Trading, which this year will be held at the Adams Agility show on 30 August 2015. A heat would need to be split into two parts if the number of dogs entered exceeded KC maximums. This would mean a duplicate of prizes with the first two handlers and dogs in each part going forward. Rosettes will be placed to 15th and trophies to 3rd place.
