Many of the thousands of dogs end up in rescues centres because of their high energy level. As we value that energy in our sport, many would make super agility dogs, if only given a chance. If you are looking for another dog, have a look at the dogs below. Open your heart and give one of these 'little guys' a good home. Or if you know of someone - a friend, neighbour or work colleague who is looking for a dog as a pet, do pass on the web site.
We will promise to keep a dog on this page for three months at least. If it has not rehomed within this time, we'll move it over to the Still Looking page as space is limited and there are lots of dogs waiting to be rehomed. If a dog is re-homed, whether through the pages of Agilitynet or other sources, could you please let us know asap so we can make room for another rescue dog.

If you know of a rescue dog that would make a good agility or flyball prospect, preferably two years old or under, download this template, answer all the questions about the dog's history etc. and return with a photo of the dog by email. That way, you won't get time wasters and we can post the dog a whole lot faster). We'll try to let you know what's happened to these dogs on the Happy Endings page.

Please note that the entries for the dogs below have been provided by the rescue organisation and Agilitynet cannot be held responsible for any errors or misleading descriptions.

SNOOP

History: Snoop is a farm bred WSD,who lived with a couple and two children from eight weeks old.  He is being rehomed as they found it hard to cope with his activity levels.

CHED

History: Ched was brought into rescue by original owner who couldn’t cope with a young lively dog as their circumstances had changed since getting him.
Description: He is a gorgeous looking dog - scruffy, hairy and his eyebrows have an entire life of their own! He has been described as a cross between something off Fraggle Rock & Chewbacca from Star Wars! Tricoloured, border collie X terrier?  Lovely boy, high energy drive, will need a lot of training but catches on very quickly. In under an hour he was introduced to clicker training, learned a wait and a recall over 2 very small (poles on ground) jumps. He would measure in at Large for agility. He can be destructive when left alone with nothing to do and is a bit noisy when ignored. At the moment, in kennels, he is not being stimulated anywhere near enough for his clever little brain so these problems should hopefully disappear once he is given something to do. Gets on with other dogs but wants to play so needs a like minded dog for company.
Rehoming criteria:  Ched needs an active home with an experienced owner who is at home for most of the day. We can only carry out home visits within an hours drive of Manchester so a local home would be preferred.
Child friendly:
Probably, he is very affectionate but may be a bit too bouncy for very young children.
Able to live with cats: Has seen the cats wandering around the site & is interested so maybe a home without the added excitement a cat can bring would be better for him at the moment.
Age: 10 months

MEKAH

History: We do not have any history for Mekah. She is currently in foster and has been assessed as having potential as an agility or flyball dog.
Description: Mekah needs an experienced owner who will give her the time, physical and mental stimulation she needs. She is extremely loyal, loving and forms a strong bond with the person she spends most of her time with, she will be best suited to someone who’s around most of the day. She is very clever and becomes bored very quickly; she would make an excellent agility/trials dog, as she loves new adventures and would enjoy the physical and mental stimulus. She has an incredibly loving temperament, a typical Belgian sense of humour - cheeky, wicked, and sometimes over enthusiastic, in the nicest way! She loves other dogs, gets on well with children and enjoys training and lots of exercise.
Rehoming criteria: In accordance with Hope rescue guidelines
Child friendly:
Yes, but she is boisterous, so teenage children only

MINSTREL

History: Minstrel has been our family pet for over five years. We originally rescued him at nine months old. I then took him to obedience classes for 18 months and then agility classes for about a year. He absolutely loved agility, however developed a fear of the see saw. The trainer did say this was something that could be corrected though. However, we since stopped agility. I have since had a baby and although I find this very upsetting, we do not feel we can give him the exercise that he needs.
Description: Minstrel is a very handsome dog. He is very obedient and intelligent and just wants to please.
Rehoming criteria: Would need a home that can give him lots of exercise and lots of love and cuddles.
Child friendly:
Older children only
Able to live with cats: Yes

He is very food orientated and has started to take an interest in playing with toys as well. CASPER

History: Transferred from Ireland with no history
Description: Blue merle collie X  terrier with one wall eye. Will be 'Small'. Very lively energetic young chap who is always on the look out for stuff to do. Mad for toys and treats so although he knows little at present he is keen to try as long as it is fun and would take to agility with gusto. He is quite stressed in kennels and doesn't seem to have had much socialisation with dogs so gets himself in a tizzy on the lead but might be able to live with dogs with careful intro once he's had a chance to chill out a bit.
Rehoming criteria: All members of family and any existing dogs will have to come to the centre to meet before he will be able to go home. Adopters can be anywhere in the country provided they are happy to travel. Adopters will have to attend a talk.

BAXTER

History: Baxter was found tethered to a tree with baling wire close to a main road, in the middle of a thunderstorm. He came into rescue in August in good condition. He was initially hand shy, but has largely got over that issue. Baxter had a home lined up at the beginning of September, but that fell through at the last minute through unforeseen circumstances.
Description: Baxter is a stunning looking lad with very expressive ears, thought to be a Collie x with a fair amount of Australian Cattle Dog in his mix. He is quite puppyish in his behaviour, wanting to climb all over you to show his affection, & mouthing to get attention. Baxter is intelligent, keen and quick to learn, needing lots of mental & physical stimulation. If given the opportunity he will play endlessly with a ball of any size or shape, or with a tugger. Baxter does not appreciate being on lead, when he has a tendency to pull, & is very strong. Off lead, though, he displays an excellent recall.
Rehoming criteria: Baxter is not a dog for the novice owner. He will require a great deal of time, patience and commitment to give him the exercise and training he needs, but would prove very rewarding for someone who is into agility or flyball. He travels well. On lead outdoors he has an aversion to cyclists, vehicles and some pedestrians, particularly joggers, so work would need to be done with this. He mixes well with the two Lurchers and two Greyhounds in his current foster home. He does not exhibit food aggression, and will sit patiently for his turn for a treat
Child friendly: Yes, but is very boisterous, so teens only.
Able to live with cats: No
Age: No more than about 18 months

TIG

History: Tig joined us in 2008 from a home where she had too much pent up energy and had got frustrated. She is keen to learn and knows lots of tricks. She loves to curl up with you on the sofa and can be very affectionate.
Description: Tig is currently running in Medium Grade 3, having won out of Grade 1 & 2 in her first season. She is an affectionate dog but living with our pack of collies winds her up and makes her over excitable and noisy. She has never learnt to cope with excitement and this sometimes this causes her to get herself into frenzy.
Rehoming criteria: An experienced terrier and agility home would be ideal for Tig.

MILO

History: Milo is Jack Russell type who came to me through a friend. He was due to be PTS as he had been biting his owner’s grandchildren. There's a possibility that he may have been tormented into the biting since the children were excitable boys.  However, he was definitely a biter when he came to me. Luckily with my own pack and some retraining from me, he is a changed dog.
Description: He is very loving and playful and although he growls when he is playing has learnt the meaning of bite inhibition very well. He is also brilliant with other dogs.
Rehoming criteria: I would prefer him to go to an experienced JRT owner. I have been teaching him basic agility at my own DT Class and he loves it.  He is used to a clicker so would be ripe for more of this type of training.
Child friendly:
Unknown as he has not been around children since I have had him so, at the least, it would be under constant supervision.
Able to live with cats: Unknown.

BADGER

History: Badger came in as his previous home didn’t have the time to spend with him.
Description: Badger is a tri colour, short coated collie. He’s very sweet and loves affection; he can be very bouncy when he gets excited. He loves to be out and about and doing something. Badger is a bit thin at the moment and we are trying to put some weight on him. He travels okay in the car. He has previously lived with young children without problems and seems fine with other dogs. Badger isn’t house trained as yet and he did jump over their fencing on occasion, but we don’t think he was getting enough exercise or stimulation and simply got bored. He is also not used to being left alone.
Rehoming criteria: Badger needs a new home where people have the time to spend with him that he needs. A new home would have to understand that he does need some basic training first as well as agility or flyball training. Badger is only young and we feel he would make an excellent dog in the right home with the right people.
Child friendly:
Yes, had previously lived with children with no problems, although he may knock a very young child over in his excitement.
Able to live with cats: Unknown. Was reported to have been beaten up by a neighbour's cat!!

Sex: Dog

BAYZ

History: We rehomed Bayz at around six months of age. He settled in well but his deep drive to herd other dogs makes keeping him difficult. I feel he needs a home with a more experienced handler, and think an agility or obedience home would be better for him.
Description: Bayz is a light tan/white male Collie/Belgian Shepherd X. He is a lively, loving, bouncy, highly excitable dog. He is obedient indoors and garden, gets on well with other dogs. He doesn't walk well on lead, and off lead in park he is over friendly and herds other dogs. He will walk your way if given the instruction but he hates being put back on lead so tends to stay at arms length. He is fully housetrained, travels well and has experienced camping. I had hoped to be able to keep him but a flyball family just isn't the right place. He currently lives with cats and another collie. If anyone wants to see video's please look me up on Facebook under the name Helen Lee.
Rehoming criteria: Bayz needs an active agility or obedience home where his instinct to herd can be worked on. Any potential home will be checked and a meeting of Bayz and any potential pack mates must take place prior to rehoming.
Child friendly: Yes, but teens or older as he is over excitable and jumps up.
Able to live with cats: Yes, but dog aware cats only as he will chase to play.
