Thank you
A big thank you to Chippenham for allowing us to make the presentations at this
show. The BTAL would also like thank Adams Agility for sponsoring the League Table runner up
rosettes, and to all the other people too numerous to mention here who have helped sponsor the
trophies for the league.
Adams agility have also kindly sponsored some ‘Best Border Terrier’ rosettes for Small/ Medium agility classes at a number of agility shows throughout the season. If your club would like to present some of these rosettes at your shows, please contact jan . church at tiscali . co . uk
The agility season has begun to get into swing and Border Terrier League members have been busy sending in their points. Keep the points coming in. If the early competitions are anything to go by, competition will be fierce this season.
Congratulations to BTAL member Rachel Mowbray with Meg (Laurelton Winter Nutmeg) on winning their first and the first Small Agility CC at Chippenham Small/Medium Show.
Below you will find the current scores in each category.

The Border Terrier Agility League trophies for 2006 will be presented at the Chippenham Small/Medium show early in 2007, many thanks to Chippenham for agreeing to host the award ceremony.
Waggitt have done the Border Terrier Agility League proud and there are a huge amount of items to choose from on their website. www.groovy-dogs.co.uk/acatalog/Agility_League_Logo_s.html
The Border Terrier Agility League now has its own Website, where you can keep up to date with the latest in the league tables, send in points and register your dogs on-line. www.freewebs.com/borderterrieragilityleague
Following the resounding success of the Southern Border Terrier Limited Agility show in September 2005 with more than 50 dogs entered, a new league for Border Terriers has been announced.
Organiser Jan Strawbridge said, 'After speaking to many BT owners - and having my arm twisted - there was a feeling that there were enough competing BTs out there to warrant league of their own.'
Over the years the popularity of the Border Terrier as an agility dog has grown and grown. They are versatile little dogs, bred to work and full of fun, little packages of explosive energy just waiting to perform with boundless enthusiasm and usually a very vocal accompaniment. Border terriers have gone from strength to strength over the years appearing at and winning every major final for Mini dogs and representing England at the FCI Agility World Championships.
The league will run from 1 January 2006 until 31 December 2006. There will be three categories:
Starters
Novice
Senior
From these categories there will also be awards for the Best Rescue Border Terrier and the Best Veteran Border Terrier.
Trophies will be perpetual, but it is hoped that a small keepsake trophy can be awarded to the winners as well.
Ellen Rocco has granted permission to have bi-monthly updates on the league posted on Agilitynet, for which I thank her. There will also be updates on Border Terrier World (Agility section).
The Border Terrier Agility League logo is available to purchase on many types of clothing please contact www.waggit.co.uk for more information.
So come on, all you Border Terrier owners out there, register your dogs and let the competition begin.

The Border Terrier Agility League is open to Border Terriers Only.
All dogs must be purebred, but they don’t have to have a KC Pedigree as we appreciate that some Borders which have been rescued may not have papers. No Crossbred Border Terriers allowed.
All heights of Border Terrier (Small/Medium) will compete in the league against each other in their respective categories i.e. Starters, Novice etc.
The categories are as follows: Starters, Novice and Senior. These categories will be reviewed in January ’07 in line with the proposed KC changes re: classification.
From the above categories there will also be trophies awarded for Best Veteran and Best rescue.
The league will run from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2006.
Points can be gained from Kennel Club Open Shows, Kennel Club Limited Shows and Kennel Club Capped Shows.
Inter-Club Matches, Winter Leagues, Pay on the Day, Team, Pairs or Brace classes will not count towards the league.
Points from the following Special classes will count towards points for the League: Helter Skelter, Take Your Own Line, Snooker, Time Fault & Out, Beat the clock, Gamblers, Power & Speed.
In all categories points for more than one dog cannot be added together.
Points can still be gained if the dog is run by another handler.
Points will be awarded as follows: For AGILITY classes - 1st place 30 points to 20th place 11 points. Unplaced clear round =6 points. For JUMPING / SPECIAL classes - 1st place = 25 points to 20th place = 6 Points. Unplaced clear round = 3 points.
Points will only be awarded for places if a rosette is actually awarded.
It is the owners’ responsibility to send in their points via e-mail or post.
Points must be claimed within one calendar month of the show taking place.
In the event of a draw the highest overall placing in the year will win.
Final results at the end of the year must be received by the end of January 2007.
The entry fee is £2.50 per dog; this is to cover admin costs and trophies. Cheques payable to Mrs J.K. Strawbridge.
Trophies will be perpetual, but it is hoped that a small keepsake trophy will be awarded to the winners as well.
Perpetual trophies must be returned to Jan Strawbridge by the end of November, so that they may be engraved ready for the next recipient.
It is hoped that the presentation of trophies will take place at a Championship show, but this is still under negotiation, if this fails to materialise they will be posted to the winners in early 2007. Address to send points/ registration form: Mrs J. Strawbridge, 1 Le Borowe, Church Crookham, Fleet, Hants, GU52 6ZA.
