CSJ Agility Open

A new and exciting challenge for ambitious agility competitors...

Announcing The CSJ Agility Open 2018

The CSJ Agility Open is a brand new 4-day event launching next year on 14th June at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.

As its name implies, it is open to any agility competitor in the UK or overseas, without need for registration with any organisation. Unlike any other test in the UK, the CSJ Agility Open will be run tournament-style with one entry fee giving 14 runs over FIVEexciting events including the CSJ National Championships, Biathlon, Pentathlon, Steeplechase and the Games Challenge.

Event founder Greg Derrett explains 'The CSJ Agility Open has been created in response to demand for a premier event unlike any other currently scheduled in the UK. It aims to offer top level agility partnerships – and those aspiring to be – a unique opportunity to experience all the pressures of world-class competition, on appropriate and intelligently-designed courses, adjudicated consistently by qualified and experienced judges in a superb venue.

'The tournament format enables competitors to have at least one more chance to win the event, rather than the usual 'one fault and you’re out' system that we are used to in British agility today'.

All classes are run over four equitable jump heights to be inclusive for as many dogs as possible. They will be run under UKA Rules and Regulations but UKA membership is not required to enter.

The Biathlon consists of a Jumping and an Agility round and the Pentathlon will be two Jumping and two Agility rounds with the top placed competitors going through to a Speedstakes round. The Nationals is a Jumping round and an Agility round, leading to a Finals, while the Steeplechase is a fast and furious event run over a flowing course consisting of just jumps and tunnels. The Games Challenge tests strategic skills as well as agility ability over a Snooker and a Gamblers course.

Greg continues 'For an event like this, which will see Finals taking place every evening in the heated, indoor arena with its tiered seating  - and restaurant and bar -  it is essential that we have the finest judges from home and abroad. Our Chief Judges – Jorge Pires (Portugal), Lee Gibson (UK), Martin Cavill (UK) and Becky Dixon (UK) – will all work together on their course design to create challenging, interesting and most importantly, safe classes.  Class Judges are the highly respected Martin Tait, Neil Ellis, Jason Bartram and Becky Leighton.  All the UK judges are alumni of the Global Judging Program.'

The venue itself, Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, has superb all-weather surfaces so no mud or slippery grass if the weather is inclement.  Camping with or without electric hook-up is available.

Greg concludes, 'None of this would be possible without the support and sponsorship of CSJ, undoubtedly the leading provider of the finest working dog food and herbal supplements available today.  CSJ will be at the event with their trade stand, alongside several others whose details can be found at www.theagilityopen.com.'

The CSJ Agility Open can be entered from 1st January, 2018 and entries are capped at 1000 runs.
