Co-sponsors of the 2023 Winning Out Certificates

Sometimes it's love at first sight. Sometimes it takes a little longer to find the right one - and they might have been there all the time. If you are still looking for that special dog, here are some dogs who are ‘still looking’ for their special homes. They've all been submitted to Agilitynet because someone out there thought they had the potential to become good agility dogs. Some may require a little extra time and patience to help them, but with the right home, a little extra time and patience, one of them could be the dog of your dreams. We will keep them on this page for six months and then, unless we hear differently, remove them to make way for other dogs.

MAXI

History: Maxi came originally from a rescue in Ireland and was transferred here with no history
Description: Maxi is a shorted-coated, long legged, tri-colour terrier, probably a Small for agility. He is very bright, keen and lively. He is finding kennels stressful and frustrating as he wants to be doing stuff. He loves treats and becomes completely deaf to the world when there is the possibility of earning a treat so he's very easy to train. He needs someone who can keep up with teaching him or he tends to learn the wrong thing. Maxi is housetrained and can be left at home on his own but tends to get bored and up to mischief if left too long. He can be a bit scared of other dogs which he can cope with when meeting off the lead but gets really panicky on a lead. He's responding really well to training for this but adopters will need to continue building it up.
Rehoming criteria: All members of family and any existing dogs will have to come to the centre to meet before he will be able to go home. Adopters can be anywhere in the country provided they are happy to travel. Adopters will have to attend a talk. Could be homed with older children and another dog if it was the right dog but would probably be best as an only dog.

BETH

History: Beth was purchased from a farm in Wales. Unfortunately she is not good with young children as she has a tendency to nip when she feels threatened. This is the reason why we are looking to rehome her. We have a four year old and six year old, and unfortunately Beth has nipped them on several occasions. I love her to bits but our children's welfare must come first.
Description: Beth is housetrained. She can be wary of other dogs although we also have a male border collie and they get on fine. Beth is good on a lead and does not pull too much once the initial excitement of walkies has worn off. She also has a good recall, especially for treats. She is quite a timid, nervous dog but she is also very loving, very intelligent and very playful. She can bark on command, sit, paw, lie down and crawl for treats. Beth believes she is a lap dog and always wants to curl up next to you on the sofa or across your lap for a belly rub. She also has a compulsion to watch everything out of the front window and is incredibly alert all the time.
Rehoming criteria: Beth requires an active home and a job to do. An agility home would provide her with a much needed outlet for her huge amount of energy. She will make someone an absolutely fantastic companion and friend who will provide ours of entertainment and will always be willing to go for long walks.

Bitter Sweet Ending: Dougie was rehomed but then escaped from his new home and so is now a 'lost' dog.

DOUGIE

History: Dougie came into rescue because the family couldn't cope with his energy levels and he was getting bored.
Description: He is a lively boy with bags of energy and loves ball games. He is in a foster home at the moment and lives happily with eight other dogs there he has been introduced to agility and seems very eager to learn.
Rehoming criteria: Would be suitable to home with no children as so boisterous and excitable. Would need a home where he could continue with his training.

Update: Casper is still looking for a home. There's been some interest in him but not the right home yet.  (06/01/10)

CASPER

History: Transferred from Ireland with no history
Description: Blue merle collie X  terrier with one wall eye. Will be 'Small'. Very lively energetic young chap who is always on the look out for stuff to do. Mad for toys and treats so although he knows little at present he is keen to try as long as it is fun and would take to agility with gusto. He is quite stressed in kennels and doesn't seem to have had much socialisation with dogs so gets himself in a tizzy on the lead but might be able to live with dogs with careful intro once he's had a chance to chill out a bit.
Rehoming criteria: All members of family and any existing dogs will have to come to the centre to meet before he will be able to go home. Adopters can be anywhere in the country provided they are happy to travel. Adopters will have to attend a talk.

SKY (REVISED)

History: Sky was bought by a family as a puppy but sadly they didn't understand her working type border collie ways and she soon became too much for them to handle.
DescriptionSky has already done a little agility work which she takes to with great delight and her basic obedience is also good. Sky is a very loving and very affectionate girl but can be a little timid and nervous with strangers at first but once she gets to know that person, she is their friend for life
Rehoming criteria: Sky is looking for a 'collie savvy' home who would ideally have experience of working type border collies who are always 'up for it' and need a consistent ,well balanced mental and physical exercise routine. If you love border collies and their zest for everything active - she will be keen as mustard to work her little white socks off for you!
Child friendly:
Sky has been around children and with good management and supervision does accept visiting children.

Able to live with cats: No

MILO

History: Milo is Jack Russell type who came to me through a friend. He was due to be PTS as he had been biting his owner’s grandchildren. There's a possibility that he may have been tormented into the biting since the children were excitable boys.  However, he was definitely a biter when he came to me. Luckily with my own pack and some retraining from me, he is a changed dog.
Description: He is very loving and playful and although he growls when he is playing has learnt the meaning of bite inhibition very well. He is also brilliant with other dogs.
Rehoming criteria: I would prefer him to go to an experienced JRT owner. I have been teaching him basic agility at my own DT Class and he loves it.  He is used to a clicker so would be ripe for more of this type of training.
Child friendly:
Unknown as he has not been around children since I have had him so, at the least, it would be under constant supervision.
Able to live with cats: Unknown.
