In a nutshell: The charming racer of the sled-dog world

Also known as: Sled Dog

Description: A medium to large dog. Lean and muscular, with a head that resembles a wolf but with a kinder look. Thick grey and white coat with eyes which may vary from blue to brown eyes or one of each.

Temperament: Very easy-going with a gentle temperament with an independent streak. Extremely tolerant of people.

Advantages as an agility dog:

  • Steady
  • Athletic
  • Self-confident

Disadvantages as an agility dog:

  • Not the fastest dog in town
  • His obedience training useful to keep them controlled and focused
  • Can suffer from the heat

Rating out of 10 and why – 8/10 because he is intelligent, consistent, steady and loves agility, but is not super fast

Examples of dogs that have done well in agility: Not many in the UK but some in the USA

What's it like to live with as a pet: A terrific pet and companion. Loving, playful but can be very demanding. Think carefully before choosing this breed.
