Weimie League 2008The Weimaraner Agility League 2008 starts on 1 January and the subscription fee for this year is £3.50. Entry forms are now available for 2008. New and old members are welcome. Current members should email Debbie Stewart to update their info including the grade and age of each dog. All the details are on the form, but if you have any further questions you can either call tel. 01388 710428 or email weimleague@homecall.co.uk Awards are given to the top three Weimies and handlers at the end of the year plus Best Starter, Veteran and Special Achievement awards. Additionally there are group winners and runners up. The groups are made up of the different grades, giving each level a chance to win. All handlers can take part in the Weimaraner Agility Challenge, hopefully to be held further south next year so more members can enter. As well as paying for rosettes and trophies, subscription fees help towards sponsoring the Dog Trust's Oakfield Old Dogs Home, providing care for the golden oldies. Debbie said, 'On behalf of the Weimaraner Agility League I would like to thank Ellen for all her support and hard work keeping the website going and helping to promote our breed.' Rules and entry forms can be down loaded here. The October results are below. October 2007

The Weimaraner Agility League Challenge CupAs the day was drawing to a close, the Weimaraner handlers were still walking their course which was set by Phil Spilman. Our 'volunteered' commentator Brenda Tenten then announced the start of The Challenge Cup final -minus the microphone due to a technical hitch - to a gathering of spectators who hadn’t quite had enough agility for that day. Janet Hudson was first on the line with her youngster Ripley (Braithwaite Angel I’m not) but unfortunately fated with one of the two eliminations of the competition. The second elimination came with our next dog to run Maia (Trubon Bilke Trente), handled by Mike Brook. The competition was not off to a good start. What if they were all eliminated? Luckily, the next three dogs to run only had minor faults and the first clear round came when golden oldie Scully (Misty Breeze), aged 11, run by Ann Miller completed the course in 45.84 seconds. One of the younger competitors - that’s the dog, not the handler - Oliver (Braithwaite Agate) Ripley’s brother) handled by Debbie Stewart brought on the next clear round, and his first of the season in 43.09 seconds! The fastest time but with 20 faults was claimed by Morgan (Sea Lane Sprinter), handled by Clive Hudson, with a time of 30.55 seconds. But the winner with a clear round of 32.27 seconds was Janet Hudson’s second dog to run Chase (Sireva Treat). Chase has recently recovered from a serious operation following an attack of bloat. At one time, it was touch and go if he would pull through. Janet had said earlier she was just pleased he was here to take part, but to actually win it, was wonderful. Well done Chase! A special thank you on behalf of the Weimaraner Agility League goes to our judge Phil, the spectators for their support, our commentator Brenda, Jackie Kenny for accommodating our event at the show and to Ian of AIS Agility for the winner's prize donation. APRIL 2007Weimaraner Agility League MatchThis years Weimaraner Agility League Match will be held on Saturday, 11 August at the Sports Pavilion in Fulstow, near Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire. It's a joint judging appointment for Ian and Sue Bateman. There will be three single classes including an Agility class, a Jumping class and a Judges Special. In addition there will also be a Pairs class where partners are decided on the day. Veteran/special needs dogs can run the same classes but over lower height jumps. There will also be a special Nursery category for youngsters new to competition, also over lower height jumps. Anyone with a Weimaraner who doesn't want to compete is welcome to come along on the day. Buffet lunches will be available, but must be pre- booked. Weimaraner Agility League Challenge CupThis Years Weimaraner Agility League Challenge Cup class is being held at The Dog Vegas Show on Saturday, 25 August and is being Judged by Phil Spilman. Thanks must go to Jackie Kenny and her Dog Vegas Committee for kindly allowing the Challenge Cup to be run at this show. The schedule and entry form for the Dog Vegas Show classes can be downloaded from the Agilitynet schedules page. Entry forms for the Weimaraner Challenge Cup class can be obtained from Debbie Stewart. Team Dash SuccessWeimaraner League members recently had a wonderful success in the Team Dash competition at the Easter Dog Vegas Agility Show. Three Weimaraners and handlers Mike Brook with Trubon Bilke Trente (Miai), Debbie Stewart with Sireva Ritzy (Breeze) and Janet Hudson with Sireva Treat (Chase) all went clear. Due the the imposed retirement of the 4th Weimaraner, Clive Hudsons Sireva Spritzer (Skye) the reserve dog had to be run. This was Mike Brook's 'brown Weimaraner' (actually a Vizsla) Nicael Maple JW (Anya), handled by Diane Besford who also managed a clear round. This gave the team third place overall.

Congratulations to all of you for your efforts in achieving this level of handling and for getting our breed recognised for all the right reasons. Well done to you all and keep up the hard work.
