Filming the Burgess agility
video
To
help with the launch of Supadog Beef Casserole, TV’s Jeremy Edwards (ex star of Hollyoaks and
Holby City) and his four legged best friend Molly, a Boston Bull Terrier, put themselves
through their training paces with dog agility expert Gina Graham and her Shetland Sheepdog,
Ember to discover some new ways of enjoying fun and exercise together. Gina kept a short diary
of what happened behind the scenes.

I didn't finish work until 6 o'clock so Ember came to work with me for a couple of hours and we
set off straight from work. I took her down in the car as it's so much easier to drive round
London compared to a big van! She was quite happy strapped in on the front seat.
We didn't
arrive at the Bermondsey Square Hotel in London until about 9:30pm. Upon on arrival Ember got lots of attention
from the girls on the desk. She was rather impressed with the delivery of complimentary chips,
too!
The hotel was very dog friendly and provided her with her own bed and bowl.

It was
nice not to have to get up too early for a change. It's always a bit of a stressful time
getting down to London from Staffordshire in rush hour traffic. As is happens in this
instance, it was still quite stressful as we went a long way round to the car park, and it took
us half an hour to get there! In the end, it didn't matter that we were 10 minutes late as the
camera crew were held up with technical issues.
We arrived at the offices
and met Jeremy Edward his dog, Molly. Ember proceeded to whack Molly round the
head in an attempt to make her play. Molly was not impressed. They eventually both
settled down and got on well together.
We then all walked to a
local park where we set up a starter agility set. This is where the video was to be shot.
To start with, they filmed Jeremy's introduction which was done quite quickly. Then we
moved over to the agility equipment where we filmed discussing the basic obedience and I
demonstrated this with Ember.
Then
it was Jeremy and Molly's turn to try their hand at agility. Molly loved her food so she was
very easy to train. She went through the tunnel no problem. For the purpose of demonstrating
the weaves for only a very short clip, we lured her through. We ended on a jump which she
had no problem doing!
All of the above was
filmed as a full shot with just one camera. The next job was to set up two cameras to focus on
the conversation between Jeremy and me. That way we then just had to do the conversation rather than
anything with the dogs.
In between all this you
get the usual complications of people clip clopping passed in high heels past and ruining the sound.
People went and sat on benches in the background and the wind would sometimes interfere with
the mic. And, of course, the sun was shining one minute and not the next so the lighting had to
be adjusted. However, it didn't actually take too long to finish - about 3 hours in total.
We headed back to the
offices where Jeremy left us and it was then just a matter of me being filmed making the food
up, giving it to Ember and also feeding her some treats. No surprise, this was most definitely her
favourite part of the day!
We left at about 3:30pm so
we managed to avoid the rush hour traffic out of London which was lucky. Ember slept all the
way home. She was absolutely shattered! It was an absolutely fantastic day and I really
enjoyed it!
