Over 40 years of
excellence in agility equipment...
While
many may see Naylor Agility as a fresh name in the dog agility world, the
company's legacy spans over four decades of innovation, dedication and
craftsmanship. With a history dating back to 1983, Naylor Agility has been at
the forefront of developing high quality agility equipment, supporting trainers,
competitors and agility enthusiasts across the globe. The tunnel used at the
first agility demonstration at Crufts was made from some air vent piping used in
a nearby pit. So from ventilation to agility, it was only the beginning.
The Naylor journey began in 1983. At the
time that Naylor Agility was operating as Amco Plastics Ltd and was primarily
focused on manufacturing ventilation ducting for the National Coal Board. It
wasn't until a letter arrived from a passionate agility trainer, Val Venables,
requesting a custom-made dog tunnel that the company realised its potential in the
agility industry.
By re-purposing their manufacturing
expertise, Amco Plastics created their first dog agility tunnel, laying the
foundation for what would become Naylor Agility.
Innovation
and growth
Since its first agility tunnel, Naylor Agility has continually
evolved, shaping the future of dog agility with groundbreaking developments:-
- 1984 – As word spread, the
company placed its first advert in Dog Training Weekly, sparking an
influx of orders.
- 1985-1986 – Expansion beyond
the UK, with first exports going to Denmark via Dansk Kennel Club, followed
by orders to Ireland and the USA.
- 1988-2001
- Started to work with Martin and Edith Pollard of Alvah Developments
until 1997 when Martin retired. During this time, pallets of 3m and 6m
tunnels were being sent to Germany, Sweden and Norway for re-sale.
- 2003 – A longstanding
partnership began with First Contact, with Naylor Agility supplying their tunnels
for major events, including Crufts.
- 2013–2014
- Naylor Industries plc
acquired the company, officially re-branding it as Naylor Agility. After
receiving enquiries about non-slip tunnels. a double-sided, non-slip
material was developed for use inside the tunnel.
- 2017-2019 – Introduction of
new products such as hooper tunnels, adjustable sandbag straps and the
launch of the first Naylor Agility website. Naylor started to market 400mm
'fun tunnels' for small dogs and puppies and a 1000mm tunnel for larger
breeds and even donkeys! Naylor became a proud supporter of Pets as Therapy.
- 2023-2024 – Marked a major
turning point with sponsorships of WAO Team England, Ireland and Wales,
along with the British Agility Championships. The company exhibited at it's
first-ever Crufts and expanded its product range with the acquisition of
Performance Agility and First Contact. The Naylor Non-Slip Tunnel became a
bestseller.
