Guess My Time…

Supporting Chiltern Dog Rescue Society

On Sunday 18 April, I will be running the London Marathon and raising money for the Chiltern Dog Rescue Society (CDRS) Buy A Brick campaign.  Rather than asking for straight sponsorship, I am asking people to support me by entering a simple competition to guess my finishing time and maybe win a prize!

All you have to do is predict my exact official finishing time.  Each guess costs a mere £1 and you can have as many guesses as you want. Obviously the more guesses you have, the more money we can raise for CDRS and the more chance you have of winning so don’t feel compelled to have just one guess!  The closest guess to my actual finishing time will win a bottle of champagne and gift vouchers.

As a bit of background and a rough form guide, this will be my third marathon in total and my second London.  My best time so far is 4:19:58 in Dublin in 2002.  This time around I am aiming for something between 3:50:00 and 4:00:00. But remember, funny things can happen during 26.2 miles!  If you think it might all go pear-shaped for me, feel free to add a ‘Days’ column for the table below!!!  This year’s race is rapidly approaching and all guesses must be postmarked no later than Friday 16th April 2004.

Timing for the London Marathon is now done with microchips so you don’t have to account for the time it takes me to cross the start line.   If a time you select has already been taken by somebody else you will be allocated the nearest available time above or below what you have selected.  For example, if you choose 4:00:00 and this is already taken, you will be allocated 3:59:99 if you select ‘-‘ or 4:00:01 if you select ‘+’.  Entries will be processed in the order they are received.  My official finishing time will be taken from the official results section of the London Marathon website (www.london-marathon.co.uk).

I think Phil’s finishing time will be:-
