Breed goes here

In a nutshell: With a look of dash and dare is ready to go anywhere and do anything!

Blake poses by the Great Danes' own Harlequin Agility Club gate jumpDescription: Very muscular, strongly though elegantly built with a balance of height and weight.

Temperament: Kindly without nervousness. Friendly and outgoing.

Advantages as an agility dog:

  • Only needs two strides to reach the A-frame!

Disadvantages as an agility dog:

  • How does he fit? Blake sails through the tyre. Danes often need specially reinforced equipmentHeavy impact on landing so must be careful not to stress joints. (Jumps should be no more than 24") Bigger than a collie!

Rating out of 10: If equipment is used to accommodate their size, the Great Dane will demonstrate how the breed has earned the title of 'Apollo' of all breeds. 10/10/

Examples of dogs that have done well in agility: Blake, a Harlequin Great Dane - Olympia 1999, Crufts 1999 and still going strong at seven years old!

What's it like to live with as a pet: A privilege! Be warned - once you have lived with a Dane you will always live with a Dane. Remember the song... There is nothing like a Dane!

Would you buy another one for agility? Already have. Watch this large space!
