In a nutshell: A relaxed but often CRAZY
breed that has selective hearing.
Description:
A large squarely built gundog with a dip it its top line at the 11th
vertebra. It has long ears and (at the moment) docked tails, it also has hind dew
claws. It comes in white, white with orange or brown markings.
Temperament:
Gentle, very people orientated with the people they choose to be with. Often can be
crazy though.
Advantages as an agility dog:
None at all really compared to a BC, though at times he can be slow and
steady which can be a good thing,
- I have never known him to ever miss a contact,
even when he decides to have a mad half hour.
- They also learn very quickly
anything new
- They are fun to work with
- And most of all they seem to enjoy it
Disadvantages
as an agility dog:
- Too slow
- Every one gets hit with slobber from their wet
beard when they speed up or finish <G>
Rating out of 10 as an agility dog and why:
4/10; they are great fun to learn with, they make you see the funny side
of things and if you can work a spin any other breed is a doddle<G>
Examples of dogs that have done well in agility:
None that I know of in this country but I know of quite a few in
the USA with a zillion titles.
What's
it like to live with as a pet?
Most of the time wonderful apart from the
smell, the fact that they steal food any chance they have and of course having to wash the
walls and ceilings down all the time and his very loud bark.<G> The list goes on but is too
numerous to mention.<G>
Would you buy another one for agility?
No, not specifically for agility but I would have another and yes, I would do
agility with them as it keeps them in good nick for the show ring.
