Large Munsterlander

In a nutshell: Fun-loving and affectionate but can be stubborn and easily distracted

Kai on the agility course Also known as: Munsters

Description: A square elegant dog, whose size does vary. Black and white or blue roan with black patches. Coat lying close to the body with feathering on the ears, backs of legs and tail. Sometimes the first joint of the tail is docked to prevent splitting.

Temperament: Fun loving, a bit of a clown, very stubborn, gentle approach required in training, affectionate, protective to owner's children. Friendly. Can be very vocal.

Advantages as an agility dog:

  • Good looking
  • Unusual
  • Can be good when in the mood

Disadvantages as an agility dog:Munsterlander (Kai) with trophies

  • Can be slow and loves a sniff
  • Not easiest to train and will get bored easily.

Rating out of 10: Well, that is a difficult one as all Munsters are different but on average 6 out of 10.

Examples of dogs that have done well in agility: In this country not many do it but in Australia they are very popular with many gaining champion status.

What is it like to live with? A clown that needs lots of exercise and fun, great pet and brilliant with the kids. A rather large lap dog.

Would you buy another one for agility? I will always have Munsters as life without one in the house would just not feel right.
