In a nutshell: You haven't owned a real dog until
you have owned a Rough Collie.
Known
as: Lassie Dog
Description:
Probably the most beautiful of the canine species. The Collie should instantly appeal as a
dog of great beauty, gifted with intelligence, alertness and activity. His physical
structure should be on the lines of strength and activity, free from cloudiness and without
coarseness. The eyes are obliquely set and almond shaped. The skull in proportion with the
body, and the tipped ears in proportion with the skull. The coat is long and dense
and can be sable and white, tri-colour or blue merle. Height between 22" - 26"
Temperament:
The Collie has a friendly disposition. He is always keen to please his owner. He is
faithful and alert to our every mood. He is loyal, extremely affectionate, easy to train
and very intelligent. He has a brain that seems to reason the same way as our own. He is a
fun loving companion and loves to go everywhere with his owner.

Rating
out of 10: If you want a dog that you can have fun with and get a lot of clear
rounds then I would say 9/10.
Examples of
dogs that have done well in agility: Some Roughs that have done
well at Agility include Ruff 'n' Ready Jo owned by Angie Tydeman, Jacko owned by Bob
Wickham, Shady Sadie owned by Lew King and Mallswood Acer owned by Angie Brooks, but only
one has won out of Starters though other Roughs have won out.
What's it like
to live with as a pet: Excellent. They will always be your best
friend and companion and makes an excellent guard dog.
Would you buy
another one for agility? Probably, I’ve already had four, three
that have done competitive agility. I just love the breed. My ideal though
(being a little competitive) would be a Rough cross Border, that had the looks of a Rough but
the speed of the Border Collie.
