Size matters...

Measuring for all heights of dogs was introduced in January 2007. Prior to that date only Small and Medium dogs had been required to be measured. This procedure was introduced to create fairness in the sport, ensuring that every dog competed in the correct height category. This followed the introduction of a minimum height for Large dogs. It is YOUR responsible to ensure that Your dog is measured before its first competition.

A Quick Guide to Measuring

You must have
an official Kennel Club Record Book
with your dog's Kennel Club name and number

Identification
 Your dog must be micro Chipped or tattooed
or you will need a photo of your dog, affixed in your record book

Your dog
must be at least 15 months old unless they are obviously over 430 mm.

Once your dog has been measured,
it will need a second measurement after 12 – but before 24 months. If the two measurements are different, then a third measurement is required. Read Regulation H (1)(B)4

If they are obviously large the second measurement will be signed and struck out of your Agility Record book.

  • If both measurements are the same, then that is the final measurement.

  • If the two measurements are different then a third measurement is required.

  • This must be carried out within two months.

  • This must be done by two measurers who have not measured the dog before.

  • Measurers have to inform the Kennel Club
