Once more this year the Games Challenge final, a uniquely combined Gamblers and Snooker competition or all heights and levels of UKA dogs, created an exciting and nail biting experience for both competitors and spectators. Kim Hunt reports.

The final was held at the UKA Derbyshire Agility Centre Show at Broomfield College on Saturday, 11 July. The Judge for this year was Judy Wills who set two challenging courses. All the competitors first ran the Gamblers course closely followed by Snooker.  The two courses are shown below.

Snooker Course

Although no-one managed to gain the full 51 points in the thrilling Snooker round, the overall winner Pete Richards with his Border Collie, Dee running at standard height, worked out the best course in which he actually completed all the obstacles in the closing sequence within the time allotted.

Pete won a choice of 82 adventure experiences, a terrific trophy with a photograph of his choice provided by Jon Ord photography, as well as goody bag full of toys and treats all provided by The Derbyshire Agility Centre. Pete also won the individual trophy as the winner of the Snooker round, provided by Amolibros. He is seen in the above photograph being presented with his prizes by the judge Judy Wills.

The Runner-up was Jane Tatum with Dickens, also winning a trophy with photograph and a goody bag.

Gamblers Course

The other individual prize for the Gamblers round, also provided by Amolibros, was awarded to last years winner, Paul Hinchley with Fagin, who co-incidentally will be the judge for 2010.
