2025 Naylor Agility
Challenge Champion Crowned
The World of Animals Arena
at the Malvern Autumn Show provided the
perfect stage for one of the must-win grassroots agility finals, the Naylor
Agility Challenge. On 28th September saw the largest field of finalists the competition
has ever had assembled with 38 partnerships travelling from as far away as Dublin and
Norfolk to compete for the title.
The agility action was
a major draw which attracts a staggering 65,000
visitors. The arena which was packed with fans of the sport and animal lovers
alike cheering every twist and turn.
The
2025 competition featured over 740 dogs competing at 10 qualifiers nationwide
from Lancashire
to Somerset and Powys to Cambridgeshire. Qualifying for a finalist spot
competition was no easy feat with only the top five from each heat advancing to
the final.
The anticipation of the growing crowd could
be felt as the finalists saw the course laid out before being given the chance
to walk it and find the answer to the challenging but flowing course set by Championship and
international agility Judge Ryan Hennessy.

With some experienced handlers in the line-up, including Rosana Duarte who qualified her two dogs Zeus and Zephyr, Danny Gardner with Mai
Tai and Alison Williamson with Ellie who was a Kennel Club Starter Cup finalist
back in August, it was always going to be a challenge to take the top spot.
For some,
it proved too much
with fences 5 and 12 being two of the points where partnerships found themselves
out of the running.
Then
Lynne Davies from Llanharan (Wales) stepped into the ring
up to take on the challenge. Running her first agility dog, Rex, a 7-year-old
Border Collie who qualified at Worcester, she went clear as dog number 16 and stayed at the top for the remainder of
the final.
Here’s how the top three
finished:-
-
Lynne Davies with Rex
(Ready Steady Here Comes Rex)
-
Sarah Cook with Anja (Trubon
Jousi Trynna)
-
Scarlet Beavan with Ivy
(North Devon)
Judge Ryan Hennessy
had nothing but praise for the competitors, saying, 'It was great to judge the
final. Every partnership tried their best, and it was wonderful to hear the
crowd cheer them on. Congratulations to Lynne and Rex on taking the title.'
